Entertaiment is something that can be adapted to suit all kinds of scales, from an individual choosing a private entertainment (for example a film) from the vast array of pre-recorded products available to them; to a party for two, accompanied by suitable music and dance; to performances intended for thousands. The word entertainment has come to be strongly associated with amusement, although many forms of entertainment can have a serious purpose, such as the various ceremonies, religious festivals and acts of satire that are often seen as social commentary.
